Dear EagleGet Producer,

You should convince the following antivirus producers instead of your users about their warning and/or alert messages:

ESET-NOD32
Comodo
Webroot
NANO-Antivirus
AVware
Rising
Yandex
Baidu
Zoner
Awast

(See scan results for your portable and setup files in the site VirusTotal)

There is no point in saying to your users here: "we don't bundled any viruses" and "it's false positives".

You should coordinate with these antivirus producers to adress the false (or true) warnings and maybe they'll get these warnings back with further updates.

Regards,

Re: EagleGet v2.0.4.25 Portable (Updated:July 4, 2017)

The VirusTotal reports shows that the setup is clean.

The reason for these incidences is because, during installation EagleGet offers to install iNewTab extension for Chrome [which you can gladly deny], and is developed by the same team itself. This is why at VirusTotal , MalwareBytes flags it as "Optional bundled installer". Leading antiviruses like Kaspersky [the one I use] and BitDefender results are safe.

Re: EagleGet v2.0.4.25 Portable (Updated:July 4, 2017)

I would like to suggest users to make informed decisions when looking at VirusTotal results.

"Heuristic detections" aren't actually malware but what antiviruses "think" these programs have could have content that might act like "malware".

"Adware detection" happens when a software comes with a wrapped installer, because the software "offers" something else with the installer. This is commonplace with most freeware software now, where it provides suggestions to some other software during it's installation. You cannot "ask" the antivirus vendors to remove it because that's how their databases work. On the other hand the good antivirus vendors knows what should be detected and what shouldn't be.

Here's an example for you. Panda Free Antivirus, comes with a wrapped installer that "offers" a toolbar during installation. This is the Virustotal link to it's installer with around 13 'detections'.

Now a so called "antivirus" which is supposed to remove malware is also getting "detected"? See the irony? The same goes for Avast, Avira, AVG but since their setup packages is larger than 128MB that VT can scan, I can't show their results.

EagleGet on the other hand has removed all other sponsored software offers and now simply offers a new extension they developed, 'iNewTab' that has been verified by Chrome store as clean. You may choose to install it to support the development of EagleGet or simply decline it.
